Noir the albino

for my current project i am in a group with the lovely emmie, kat, james and wai sum. we were asked to watch a film (any film) and choose a still from it. from this still we have create it life size and down to a tee, then photogragh it with the correct colouring and gels to create the exsact still.
we chose to the film "Noir albino". i reconmend u watch it, its amazing!
In movies the coming-of-age genre has been formed, reformed, recycled, copied, and in the case of Noi the Albino, refreshed. In an Icelandic village sitting at the foot of a massive glacier, a bald, skeletal teenage misfit named Nói lives a commonly angst-ridden lifestyle. Amidst his day-to-day offerings, which are limited to trudging around the frost-bitten streets and sitting at his school desk, he finds few serene moments to kick it in his basement's sub-floor space and ponder the existence he wishes he could escape to. When he meets the new gas station attendant Iris and finds her charm nearly irresistible, a slimmer of hope presents itself. However, destined to follow in the footsteps of his slacker father, Nói's attempts at escaping his bleak life are simply clumsy and ill planned. deadpan humor in depressing and unconventional characters is shown though out this film. They plan their clothing around it, their jobs, and it seems that their personalities reflect it as well; the village's inhabitants are all calm, introverted, and perhaps cynical. Surely this quiet atmosphere makes it mark on the film, literally when Nói describes the animal museum as being the wildest place in town.

vivenne westwood add campaign...

the idea for this shoot, was to invite the viewer into a situation they probably wouldn't be invited into, making the adds more personal and less informal-unlike the everyday glossy magazine shoots.
the photos are over bleached by the bright flash-this is a format i chose to use just like the actual photographer for Vivienne westwoods add campaigns (Juergen Teller)
they are supposed to show a carefree, social event modeling clothes and making her style look social, fun, and something the viewer wants to be part off.

Random

random....but these are a few insights to my wonderful world

Robin Rhoue

Robin Rhode is a south african artist, born 1976 in Cape Town, South Africa, now based in Berlin, Germany. In 1998, he obtained a diploma in Fine Art i South Africa, followed by a postgraduate program at theSouth African School of Film, Television and Dramatic Art in Johannesburg.

Working predominantly with everyday material like charcoal, chalk and paint, Rhode started out creating performances that are based on his own drawings of objects that he interacts with. He expanded and refined this practice into creating sequences and digital animations. These works are characterized by an interdisciplinary approach that brings aspects of performance, happening, drawing, film and photography together. Rhode often returns to his native South Africa, creating work in the streets of Johannesburg and continuously registering the traces of poverty and social inequality. An outstanding characteristic of his works is his addressing of social concerns in a playful and productive manner, incorporating these issues into his practice without simplifying or judging them.

Medium Format

this is a photo i did on a medium format camera. medium format is something i am really pushing myself to use as much as i can as i believe it creates one of the best visual quality ever.

My saying for the day

"It’s good that you can’t see how long the ladder is: you should only see the next rung or the one after that, because otherwise you might think it’s far too gruelling and do something else."

Stormy Weather

Blaise, Azim and Christophe

One of the main things that draw’s me to Blaise Reuterswards work is the depth and tone used with in each photo, his ability to use distance and height to create a atmosphere and movement as a vital ingredient. By studding his work this is what I myself is trying to achieve. To remember that height and distance can create a atmosphere more stronger then a head shot of a pout. Lighting is essential in all his photos to create his depth and tone and this is something I must practice as it is not one of my strong points.
Blaise Reutersward was born in Stockholm, Reutersward lives and works in Paris. As a successful fashion photographer, he has traveled the world extensively and spent many hours in transit while in trains, planes and cars. These moments between hectic work assignments,
Frequent state of unrest and fast-paced energy has inspires Reutersward’s fine art photography. Be it nudes, depictions of endless horizons or an aerial view of Central Park, his compositions share a focus on meditative simplicity and subtle color nuances. Reutersward refers to his images as “atmospheres,” distinct environments, which through minimal abstraction are provided with an unusual sense of mystery.

Azim Haidaryan is my favourite photographer of all time. Each photo looks as if it has a huge story behind it, something that your could wonder about all day and still wake up with that image in your head. The lighting in every photo sets the mood and is always done to perfection like a hand painted painting. Azim Haidaryans photos in colour or black and white are always relevant to what he is trying to put across, even the models chosen for the shoot complete his ideas like a puzzle. Azim haidaryan is the photographer I could only dream to be.
Born in Afghanistan, Azim Haidaryan has been travelling between Europe and the USA since the age of 15.After a short time as an assistant photograper, he began a career as a photographer exploring many areas, from reportage to fashion.

Christophe Meimoon is a photographer I have only come across recently, one that will stick with me for a long time. I don’t think there is one photo of his I do not like. Each one is more exciting then the other and more curious. He plays on glamour and beauty to draw the viewer in. each photo is beautiful and striking. All his work is mainly studio based and story boarded before hand. You can tell there is a lot of work that goes into each photo and I admire this. This is why I story board my work so much to get results like his.

Advertising

"does advertising matter?-honestly"
1.advertising is one of the key drivers of the capitalist system-of the global economy
2.it shapes popular culture
3.its entertaining-or at least it can be
4.it can en lighted and inspire
5.it my be one of the most powerful, widespread and accessible art forms (though many might disagree with it being described as an art form)
6.its a mirror that reflects our values, our aspirations and our fears-it reflects our culture
7.it knows our secrets-it reflects and uses our attitudes and behaviour and uses our physiological make up, it drives and restrains
8.it is every where and seems impossible to stop
9.it is a large sector of the creative industries employing talent from a wide range of areas and contributing creative ideas and skilled individuals to many other sect ores.

This is just a little drawing i did quickly today. i know i love photography but drawing is the next best thing.
if i ever have a lot on my mind i just draw. i could sit and draw for hours. this sounds really sad but when i was little i didn't really watch TV i just drew all day. pretty sad if you ask me, but i'm sadly still the same.
from now on ill post my drawings on here more often.
don't even ask me why but i drew this image whilst listen to Bon iver (totally amazing) some how i think this is why i drew it. Bon Ivers music has nothing what so ever to do with little birds and cupcakes but it made me happy enough to draw it so meh.
